Safety

Before choosing a product for a baby, it is natural for parents to think mainly about safety, comfort, and practical use.

During the development of Beelyra, safety was always the top priority.

Every detail of the product was designed to help parents gently transfer a sleeping baby without sudden movement that could wake them.

Designed with the baby’s safety in mind

Beelyra helps parents move a sleeping baby from the car seat gently and in a stable way.

Beelyra is placed under the baby, allowing parents to lift and transfer the baby without waking them. The thickness of the carrier is similar to baby clothing and it is not padded like a jacket, so it does not create any “air space” that could compress.

During a car ride, the baby always remains secured with the original car seat harness. The straps pass over the baby’s body in the same way as they would without using the carrier.

Developed in accordance with European product safety requirements

Beelyra was designed with consideration for European product safety legislation, including General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988EN 13209-2:2016-07 “Child use and care articles – Baby carriers – Safety and test methods”, and EN 1466 “Child use and care articles – Carry cots and stands – Safety requirements and test methods.”

During the design process, requirements for material safety, product construction, and proper product use were taken into account.

Is Beelyra safe to use in a car seat during a ride?

Beelyra is designed so that it does not interfere with the safety system of the car seat.

It is placed under the baby, while the baby remains secured during the ride with the original car seat harness according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

The harness passes over the baby’s body in the same way as it would if there were no Beelyra in the car seat.

Car seat manufacturers usually warn mainly about thick and bulky layers of clothing, such as winter jackets or heavily padded products. These materials can compress during a crash, which may create extra space between the baby’s body and the harness.

If the material compresses significantly, the harness may suddenly become looser, which can reduce its effectiveness.

Beelyra is not thickly padded or stuffed. The material has a thickness similar to baby clothing or a thin blanket, so it does not create a bulky space that could compress.

The most important safety rule when using a car seat is always to secure the baby correctly with the harness according to the car seat manufacturer’s instructions.

Beelyra is designed as a helpful tool for parents, allowing them to gently lift and transfer a sleeping baby without sudden movement, while the baby remains safely secured in the car seat during the ride.

Why do some people say that nothing should be placed under a baby in a car seat?

This recommendation usually refers to thick or very soft padding placed between the baby’s body and the safety harness.

In a car accident, the body moves forward. If there is too much compressible material between the body and the harness, such as a thick jacket or a bulky blanket, the material can compress and the harness can loosen. This can create extra space where the baby may move.

That is why experts recommend that there should not be thick or bulky layers between the baby’s body and the harness.

How does this relate to Beelyra?

Beelyra is not thick or padded.

It is placed under the baby, not between the baby and the harness. The baby remains secured during the ride with the original car seat harness.

The material of Beelyra has a thickness similar to a baby sweatshirt or a thin blanket. It is not padded like a winter jacket, so it does not create bulky or compressible layers that could compress.

Beelyra is not thicker than a baby sweatshirt, so this concern does not apply.

Why do car seat manufacturers not recommend accessories from other manufacturers?

Most car seat manufacturers recommend using only accessories that they produce themselves or supply with the car seat.

This is natural because manufacturers can fully test and control only the products they design themselves. They cannot verify all the accessories available on the market.

For this reason, manufacturers often state that they cannot officially recommend other accessories.

Babies in car seats naturally do not travel without clothing. Car seat manufacturers take into account that a baby will be wearing certain layers of clothing.

What is the main concern with car seat accessories?

The biggest concern is that an accessory does not interfere with the car seat’s restraint system.

This mainly means:

• there should not be thick, compressible material between the baby’s body and the harness

• it should not affect the correct routing of the harness

• it should not prevent the baby from being properly secured

How does this relate to Beelyra?

Beelyra does not attach to the car seat or to the harness.

It is placed only under the baby, while the baby remains secured during the ride with the original car seat harness according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

The material of Beelyra is thin and has a thickness similar to baby clothing or a thin blanket.

Počas simulovaného čelného nárazu zostala testovacia figurína bezpečne pripútaná v autosedačke a nebolo pozorované vypadnutie figuríny ani zlyhanie systému pripútania.

Beelyra bola navrhnutá z tenkých materiálov bez hrubého polstrovania a obsahuje špeciálne výrezy pre vedenie bezpečnostných pásov, aby nevytvárala dodatočnú vrstvu materiálu medzi dieťaťom a pásmi autosedačky.

Napriek tomu Beelyra nie je bezpečnostný prvok ani náhrada autosedačky. Bezpečnosť dieťaťa vždy závisí od správne nainštalovanej autosedačky a správneho pripútania podľa pokynov výrobcu autosedačky.

Safety Recommendations

Beelyra is designed as a tool for transferring a sleeping baby.

For safe use, follow these recommendations:

  • RISK OF FALL. Always support the baby with your hands while carrying and monitor the baby’s position.
  • Before lifting, make sure the baby is lying on their back and positioned in the center of the carrier.
  • When carrying the baby, always keep the shoulder straps properly placed on your shoulders so they cannot slip off. A slipping strap may cause the baby to fall.
  • While lifting and carrying, keep the carrier as horizontal as possible. Tilting the carrier may cause the baby to fall out.
  • Continuously monitor the baby’s position and condition while carrying.
  • Before each use, check that the carrier is not damaged and that the fabric or seams at the strap attachment points are not torn or weakened.
  • Ensure adequate air circulation around the baby’s head.
  • Do not use additional pillows, blankets, or padded items that could increase the risk of suffocation.
  • If the baby falls asleep in the carrier, regularly check their position and breathing. An incorrect body position may restrict breathing and lead to suffocation.
  • The product is intended only for short transfers of the baby between a car seat, stroller, crib, or another surface. Do not use it for prolonged carrying.
  • Do not rock the baby in the carrier.
  • While carrying, keep a safe distance from obstacles and other people.
  • The product is intended for children with a maximum weight of 15 kg and a height of up to 84 cm.
  • Do not place any objects in the carrier together with the baby.
  • The product may only be used by adults over 18 years of age.
  • Do not use the product if you feel unwell, dizzy, or under the influence of alcohol.
  • Before carrying the baby, make sure you have sufficient physical strength to safely lift and carry them.
  • Do not wear slippery clothing that could cause the baby to slip.
  • A baby in the carrier is not protected from external impacts.
  • The adult using the product bears full responsibility for the safety and health of the baby.
