And right at the moment, when I knew we would be getting out of the car in a few minutes, Hugo fell asleep.
It is funny how babies always fall asleep exactly when it is the least convenient.
I watched him through the rearview mirror. His eyes were slowly closing, his eyelashes getting heavier every second. I could see him falling asleep.
And I knew what would come next.
In a few minutes I would be standing by the car, wondering how to take him out without waking him up.
Most of the time, it did not work.
So during short drives I often tried to keep him awake. I talked to him, sang to him, gave him different toys, just to keep him from falling asleep. I knew that those few minutes of sleep would not be enough if he woke up during the transfer.
And in that moment I realized something that really struck me.
I realized that I was actually fighting against my own baby’s sleep.
Not because I wanted to, but because I did not have a way to move him safely and calmly without disturbing his sleep.
And that is exactly where the idea for Beelyra was born.
I wanted something that would help me transfer him without waking him up.
Beelyra allows me to gently lift him without waking him up. The transition from the car to the house, or from the stroller to the crib, became smoother and more peaceful.
For me, it meant a huge change.
I stopped fighting against sleep. When Hugo fell asleep, I could simply let him sleep. Without stress. Without trying to control something that is completely natural.

No, Beelyra is not harmful to a baby’s spine. On the contrary, thanks to the shape of Beelyra, the baby lies in a C shape, which corresponds to the position in the womb.
How should you care for Beelyra?
Beelyra can be easily washed in a washing machine on a gentle cycle up to 30°C. Tumble drying is not allowed. After washing, the waffle fabric may slightly change shape, but this will disappear after ironing.
Can a baby sleep in Beelyra all night?
No, Beelyra is not designed for overnight use.
What is Beelyra made of?
We use high quality, safe materials made from 100% cotton that are gentle on a baby’s delicate skin. The outer part is made from cotton waffle fabric and the inside is unbleached muslin.
Why do some people say that nothing should be placed under a baby in a car seat?
This recommendation usually refers to thick or very soft padding placed between the baby’s body and the safety harness.
In a car accident, the body moves forward. If there is too much compressible material between the body and the harness, such as a thick jacket or a bulky blanket, the material can compress and the harness can become loose. This may create extra space where the baby could move.
That is why experts recommend that there should not be thick or bulky layers between the baby’s body and the harness.
How does this relate to Beelyra?

It is placed under the baby, not between the baby and the harness. During the ride, the baby remains secured with the original car seat harness.

Why should a baby car seat be used only in the car and not for carrying?
An infant car seat should be used for a maximum of about 2 hours because a baby’s muscles are not yet fully developed.
Unfortunately, this is often forgotten, and the car seat continues to be carried around or attached to a stroller frame just so the baby does not wake up. Long term use of a car seat can lead to compression of the spine, which may cause health issues such as weakened swallowing and sucking reflexes, spinal hyperextension, and digestive problems.
